Eco-Bs, Sa Kalikasa’y the Best
The YES Organization held this year’s annual search for Ms. Eco Bs 2019 last September 20, 2019 at NNHS Covered Court with the aim of strengthening human relation to the environment.
Cliché as it may sound but the organization believes and wanted to show that there really is Pera sa Basura. The collected scraps were sold and given the candidates the percentage from the scraps that they collected.
The competition highlights the candidate’s Beauty, Brain, and the amount of Basura (scraps) that she gathered thus earning the title Ms. Eco Bs.
When asked about advocacies, Andrea Ilano—Ms. Eco Bs 2019, stressed tree planting activities that would engage her co-students to fight against climate change and increase the amount of oxygen in the atmosphere.
The costume of each candidate were crafted innovatively from recyclables and indigenous materials.
The organization earned a total amount of ₱2,640.00 after all the scraps were sold. However, due to the expenses almost exceeding the total income, no project has been implemented thus the left money has been added considerably to the fund. The activity lasted for two days. EnviroQuiz, Spelling Bee, Poster Making, and Film Showing were conducted on the first day for intensive environmental campaign. The pageant was held on the second day to end the activities.
